Graduate Students and Faculty of EECS SUSU Took Part in the International School of Software Engineering in Lappeenranta University of Technology

Lappeenranta University of Technology (Finland) hosted the first International Workshop on Software Engineering in the framework of Erasmus+ PWs@PhD project from April 17 to May 1, 2016. The school was attended by more than 50 graduate students and 12 staff members of universities of 6 countries, including 6 representatives of EECS SUSU.

The main subject of the LUT school where research methods in the field of software engineering in the age of cloud computing. The school was provided as a series of master classes by professors from the universities in the Erasmus+ PWs@PhD project consortium. The participants took part in the courses focused on the ability to properly apply a variety of methods and research tools in the field of software engineering, methods of presenting the results of their work in the form of academic publications.

One of the most vivid activities turned out to be a master class on academic writing, in which professor Elko Nayzinh of the University of Groningen (Netherlands) presented particularities in writing articles for the high rating scientific journals.

We can also note the courses Dr. Jussi Kasurinen (LTU) on the application of methodologies and techniques of research in the field of computer games, as well as a course of Professor Alan Abram from the École de Technologie Supérieure (ETS) (University of Quebec, Canada) on approaches to the assessment of efficiency and execution time of software engineering projects.

The next PWs@PhD school will be held in late August at Aalborg University (Denmark), and will be devoted to the problem-oriented approach to education in the field of software engineering.
