World-class Education: EECS SUSU Launches an English-taught Bachelor’s Degree Program in IT

A unique Informatics and Computer Science Bachelor’s degree program have been opened within the Fundamental Computer Science and Information Technology. An excellent grasp of the English language, data collection methods, software development and operation research methods will make these students the most in-demand specialists on the job market.

The School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science is inviting potential applicants to enrol in a new Bachelor’s degree program. The Informatics and Computer Science major appeared in 2010 and will be interesting to those who in latest achievements in IT.

A special feature of this program is that it is taught in English. This means that students will become acquainted with new methods and technologies of working with information, leading solutions from market leaders, can study with leading professors, and after graduation will have the necessary skills to work in the world’s leading IT companies.

“The professionals who are in demand in today’s market are those who can create software systems for various needs of people and business taking into account the latest achievements in IT and software development. This is exactly what we will be teaching the students who choose our new program. This program combines both disciplines related to programming and development of software and mobile applications, technologies of obtaining and storing data,  as well as technologies of the Internet of Things (IoT). And, of course, all lessons will be taught in English. This knowledge will make our students in demand in the labour market,” said the Director of the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, Candidate of Sciences (Physics and Mathematics), Associate Professor Gleb Radchenko.

The students’ project-based work will be organized at world-class laboratories, like the Samsung Internet of Things Academy, Supercomputer Centre of SUSU, NapoleonIT Research and Education Center, and more. These laboratories were founded jointly with the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science.

Under the leadership of Franck Leprévost, Professor of the University of Luxembourg (a long-time partner of SUSU), leading specialists from around the world are being brought in to develop the program and teach the specialized courses — these are leaders in the field of information technologies.

The leader of the program from SUSU is Leonid B. Sokolinsky, Professor and head of System Programming Department, South Ural State University.

Students who choose the Informatics and Computer Science program will learn learn trends and latest approaches in IT, including fundamentals of Programming and Software Development,  Internet of Things technologies, Computer Networks, Parallel Programming, Database Management, Optimization Methods and Operation Research.

Applicants who plan on enrolling in the Informatics and Computer Science program must take the mathematics and informatics Exams.
